John Clare () was a great Romantic poet, with a name to rival that of Blake, Byron, Wordsworth or Shelley – and a life to match. The ‘poet’s poet’, he has a place in the national pantheon and, more tangibly, a plaque in Westminster Abbey’s Poets’ Corner, unveiled in /5(29). View the profiles of people named John Clare. In the woods, an hour’s ride outside Philadelphia. John Grey had been quite resigned to dying. Had expected it from the moment that he’d blurted out, “I have had carnal knowledge of your wife.” The only question in his mind had been whether Fraser would shoot him, stab him, or eviscerate him with his bare hands. John Clare is “the quintessential Romantic poet,” according to William Howard writing in the Dictionary of Literary Biography. With an admiration of nature and an understanding of the oral tradition, but with little formal education, Clare penned numerous poems and prose pieces, many of which were only published posthumously.

His works gorgeously illuminate the natural world and rural life. The Point of Light was written by John Ellsworth. The story is loosely based on the life of French photojournalist and Auschwitz survivor Marie-Claude Valliant Couturie. She was a member of the Resistance and was sent to Auschwitz and Ravensbruck.

However, Claire, in the book, has gone beyond Marie-Claude in this book/5. As fans will know, Lord John is gay and in love with Claire’s husband Jamie, so this seems very strange.

But the book reveals Claire and Lord John have wed. “Reading with John Clare is a gem of a book, both compact and evocative, brimming with generative implications not only for Clare scholarship but also for Romantic criticism as a whole.

If there is a ‘Clare’ for the twenty-first century, it begins here.”―David Clark, McMaster UniversityFormat: Paperback. In Sunday’s episode of Outlander, Claire (Caitriona Bale) comes face-to-face with Lord John Grey (David Berry), a character who opened his heart.

Clare's history of mental illness is well-documented, and "I Am" the poem expresses all the attendant pathos and longing beautifully. Most of the balance of this book, however, is filled with bland, bucolic, typically nineteenth-century poetry.

Like an English countryside, there is much beauty here/5(12). I think the Lord John/Claire thing falls in with this group. Jamie and Claire are both such unique people, that traditional lines of attraction do not apply.

In fact, it's this fascination that is the root of the fear many people have of Claire. He is the author of Sex and Virtue and Transformed in Christ.
